Older teacher Oldman: STOP Selling yourself Short!!

55 is NOT old, when you think of all the studying you have done since you graduated. If you're like me, you have probably never been more proficient in your subject area as you are now (Diffy-q's and eigenvectors/values are easier for me now than when I was an undergraduate math major).

AW Be sure to check with social security on how Georgia handles the teacher retirement. In Texas, you would lose a large chunk of your social security as well as your spouses -- GPO and WPE.

Check this out first as well as doing some subbing.

Oldman Thanks everyone for the replies. No (or very little) social security for me due to working the last 30 years not covered by it. Federal retirement pension instead. I am trying to plan ahead and gauge the job market before committing to the lengthy paperwork/process of becoming a federal retiree.
