Smartboards; useful?

I haven't seen anyone use a smartboard very successfully since they came into existence. My question is, is it possible to use one efficiently in the classroom? Or does the technology get in the way of learning? Especially for teaching math, which is the subject area I work in.

Mollie Every teacher in my school has a Smart board. They are seen as highly effective and keep the students engaged. They also allow the students to easily become the "teacher". I teach severely disabled students and they are able to manipulate items on the board independently. The only downfall I have seen is it only allows one touch at a time. I would ...See More
