I am currently a student studying to become a Speech Language Pathologist. As part of my studies, I am taking an education psychology course. We have learned of the Constructivist view of discovery learning, and how students benefit when they are involved in the process of learning. One aspect that of Constructivism that got my attention was the situated learning experience. This is when we situate our lessons in real world problems (ex: a mock trial in the classroom, a student newspaper, etc.) However, I still remain skeptical. Although the situated learning theory looks great on paper, does it work in the classroom?

Therefore, I wanted to get some teachers opinion's on whether situated learning is effective in the classroom. Also, if it is effective, what types of activities work better than others?
