At the end of my first sememster, my cooperating gave me a heartfelt end of the semester gift and the students did as well....she thanked me for my work with her and our time togather....However during phase 2...my ct did not...she did not even acknowledge me and ignored my presence on that last day.....Is this normal?
Different teachers/different styles/personalities Unless there is more to the story, poor grade, etc. I wouldn't let it worry me.

Kay I would not worry too much about it, unless there was another circumstance - like a low grade, parental complaints, etc. Teachers vary widely in personality; some give gifts; others do not. Also, if it was at the very end of the year, the demands of closing school are very great, and acknowledging your contribution may not have been a priority.

Theresa I think it is rude for her to not have given you a gift and a hug goodbye. But, some people are self absorbed and have no class. I wouldn't worry about it. It says more about her than you. At least, you had the nice teacher for the first semester.

It is incredibly uncouth.. .. to expect a gift whatever the circumstances: birthdays, Christmas, student teaching. Gifts are a bonus, not something that should be demanded.
