Getting hired for a provisional also can depend on the location someone is in. Some of the adminstrators do hire provisional if there is an area of need, for example: special ed., spanish, science math or ESL. Have met teachers who are provisional. True, it is hard to get one of these but occasionally it does happen. But probably more realistic to find work after. I was just thinking that if the cuts keep happening and the new legislation kicks in, will be even harder to get contract than is now. Might be best to get in before gets worse. East Coast here, not the West, location does make a difference. Big districts here, large, not the same for everyone.
