Service Learning/Travel Abroad

My school requires 6-8th graders to do up to twenty hours of community service each year. Being a Spanish teacher, I wanted to do a dual community service/travel abroad trip where they might serve a community for 3 days and then we'd travel/sight see/learn for the next three days. Of course I'd want this to be in a Spanish speaking country. Does anyone know of any companies that might have their hand in something like that?

Barbara Wills You may want to look at the AFS programs now available. Most of them are for older students, but they may be able to do one for younger ones as well. Most of these are in the summer. You may also want to promote you students hosting a Spanish speaker for the coming year.

I work with Ecology Project International. We take students on programs to Ecuador, Costa Rica and Mexico to learn Spanish and the local cultural through volunteer work.
