Last week of school. I'm in a learning support position with a middle school teacher who has no control over her class. The kids talk over her, throw things at each other, and sometimes in her direction, and eat constantly. The teacher yells but they don't pay attention. She has them in writing groups. No work is getting done. The kids listen to me. If I tell them to stay in their seat, they obey, if i tell them to put their food in the trash, they do it. I feel like telling off the entire class, but I don't want to upstage the regular teacher as I'm technically the assistant and only in here for two periods.

BJ I've been in your position. Just ride it out or call in sick the last day. Teacher seems clueless. I would have used the movie as leverage. If you get your work done today, we'll watch the movie tomorrow..

the teacher at all times and not attempt to usurp his/her
place. This means that I simply follow his or her lead and
only assist in handling of the discipline problems. If she
or he has either failed to instill disciplin...See More
