It is not that they hate the students. It is that they have little to no power in their own lives, and doing this allows them to feel a little power and control over others. You see these people in corporations and government as well. They have sad, pathetic lives, and doing this stuff makes them feel important.
Agreed that students should not have to endure people like him.

I completely agree with you. I used to post here a long time ago. She was venting which was fine. She was concerned for the students which is hopefully why most of us teach.
