Thank you Carol for your response.
Tried posting directly to your response but my iPad had a minor fit.
My name is Britney Butler, and I am a student at the University of North Texas in English/Education. After a thorough application and interview process, I was accepted to be one of five participants to experience a new program at the University of North Texas for international student teaching.
I am so excited for such an amazing opportunity. This experience will allow me to develop my teaching skills, English/ESL strategies, and broaden my knowledge of education and culture for my future students.
If you'd like to support me, I would be so appreciative!
Check out GEEO's Italy program for this summer (linked here: http://www.geeo.org/tours/Italy/ ) GEEO's programs are specifically designed and subsidized for teachers.
Good luck on your future travels!
Regards, Natasha

Has anyone visited China using an educational tour company? I'm going this year with my school (via EF Educational Tours) and wondered if anyone has taken a similar trip. Our trip itinerary is Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, and finally Hong Kong. I'm hoping that my husband and I get a good amount of free time in each location.
I guess I am willing to throw my two-cents into this ring of folks who don't know what this board's purpose may be! I have had some great teaching travel experiences when I was still teaching but all of them REQUIRED that I was still teaching. I know of none for retired teachers. That's a shame -- as if we are all crawling off in a corner after the last day of school!
I've considered going back to the school from which I retired (3 years ago, so there are still quite a few people who know me and would vouch for my character, etc.) and trying to lead some student or teacher travel groups. Most of the tour companies will set up something for adult groups. Also have considered doing Senior Citizen travel groups. There are, of course, special concerns there, but not all SCs are infirmed.
There are some for teaching English. Check out the Arkansas Dept of Ed. webpage for one example.
