Hey everyone! First time posting here but very excited. I recently got a job offer abroad and honestly never thought I’d actually take it, but in a big turn of events I did! I moved to London two weeks ago after living and teaching in California most of my life. I’m a bit nervous I must confess. Starting in a new school in the middle of Novembe...See More

You are there so you must have figured out a lot of things already (and London is amazing. Some people do the int'l circuit for a few years and then go back to their home country while others make...See More

Is the DODEA still hiring for the new school year? My husband and I applied back in October. My husband and I have both received one referral for the same job, but no interview. Is it still a possibility to be hired for 16-17? Thanks!
Dee Yes, it's possible to be hired at any time during the school year. Good luck! On 7/27/16, Curious wrote: > Is the DODEA still hiring for the new school year? What kind of cars are in the teachers' parking lot at your school? I can always tell the commitment of the staff to their students by the makes and models of cars in the parking lot.

OK - the Aramco conversation has me thinking. If given the choice which would people choose and why? I am leaning toward ARAMCO for the salary. Thoughts?

In Dodea That must be nice to be in a good DoDDS location. Many of us are stuck on hardship tours due to the death of the transfer program.

haha No offense but if you have very little money left over with two of you teaching for DoDDS then you should seek financial counseling (or you must have a mortgage etc somewhere).

Even with credit card debt and student loans we are able to live very well, do some traveling and bank money every month.

If all you care about is money th...See More

Hey there! I'm new to teachers.net and am interested in chatting with current members about home exchange for the summer. I am working and living in Cairo, Egypt and come home to Oregon and California in late June/early July. I'm looking for a place to hang my hats (I have many) while I am visiting my elderly parents (dad turns 90 in June!!), sibli...See More
Dee I think you'll have better luck looking on FB. I'm not sure if you are a woman or man. But, if you are a woman I'm in a FB group called House Swap For Travelettes. If you are a man, there are many FB groups for international teachers on FB. Some are secret so you would need an invite. But, many teachers post house exchanges. This group if fairly de...See More

I am very interested in teaching in an international school - primarily in Europe. I have applied to schools all over. I have received numerous responses that my resume has been received and will be notified if chosen for an interview. I am searching for a Middle Years English position which I realize is probably hard to come by. I have a Masters D...See More

Dee I signed up and paid for ISS when I first started teaching internationally. However, I actually found my job on my own although at the time I was signed up to go to the Boston fair. ISS and Search Associates are great to join. However, if you are only interested in Europe neither ISS or Search will help unless you have some of the things listed in ...See More

Do most districts still offer summer school? Would like to work this summer.
Hi All, I know that this is a common question as I have searched many location online and find many people asking the same thing. Does anyone have an idea what the salary structure is with the Saudi Aramco school? I understand that as with any position experience and credits will have an impact but I truly cannot find ANY salary information. I simp...See More

AramcoTeacher The info below is somewhat true. You have to hold an American teaching degree. Take a look on the Aramco jobs website. Basic salary starts at $7,000/month then expat premium salary and then oversea premium salary. It's three different salaries and you have your yearly repat pay and yearly bonus. Be careful for frauds and jobs in the Middle East. Y...See More

Doubtful Possibly. But I would say it's more like half of that based on the people I have talked to.
