I just don't know. I'm tired of fighting them for their papers. I have done this 16 years and never had this kind of trouble.
I have 5th graders and they just don't care. I write parents, call parents, tried rewards, sent them to the principal. What else am I to do?

If not, I could have. I've been teaching for 10 years, and I have never seen such apathy and laziness. In my opinion, the students who are now considered high functioning are just students who function at grade level -- compared to years ago.
