The internet (your website) is basically a bunch of files stored on a computer, with directories (folders) just like you have on your PC. Your school IT person could create a folder for you, where you could upload your website files. Anyone entering your school's domain name and forward slash / your folder name, would then view your website.
To upload files, you can use a free FTP program called FileZilla (search for it on Google). Your school IT person would need to give you the FTP account information for you to access the school's website.
This is totally separate from Joomla, and your files would be stored in your own directory (folder) ... not related to any Joomla stuff.

Does your school's website (webhost) allow PHP scripting? Using PHP would simplify your pages and maintenance. You would not need to create a new HTML page each time. The pages would be generated dynamically using PHP.
Find out about using PHP and then we can deal with that later.
About the slideshow ... You can use LightBox to bring the thumbs into fullsize, and once in fullsize, the LightBox does the "PREV" and "NEXT" to advance photos.
This is the only example I could find quickly: [link removed]

I"ve tried a lot and settled on Photodex. [link removed].
Have created many shows with this program and there are a few good forums dedicated to this software. They also allow you to post your work on their site to share with others.. Here's one I created with the program and it is done as atribute to Canada and i titled it Canada-Island to Island. [link removed]

Can someone suggest some site where I can find classroom lessons with the steps for a BIMM class? This is a class where students create animated drawings and websites using Adobe Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks
The Digital Design: Foundations of Web Design is a yearlong, project-based curriculum that develops IT career skills in web design and production, using Adobe tools.
I hope this helps. - Chiss

Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to study for this test. I took it and missed passing by one point. The questions and answers were very confusing. I studied book but to no avail.
I see right away what the problem is ... Your site was created with Microsoft Office.
That rendering is not valid HTML or XHTML for anything other than Internet Explorer (a Microsoft product). It creates terrible coding and extreme compatibility problems.
I hate to say that you need to start all over again, but that's what you need to do. Use Dreamweaver if you need a WYSIWYG editor, or use FrontPage (gasp) if that is available. FP is bad too, but way better than MS Office.
The very best approach is to find a free XHTML/CSS template that you can download (search for free CSS templates using Google). Customize a CSS template with your own graphics and content. This of course is all done by hand, using Notepad or Wordpad.

Anyway... I have now made it so that my page can't see the pictures that were there on the server. So all my images and backgrounds are blank.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I saw where the image links were pointing to a spot on my computer, so I tried to just erase all but the name of the file, but that isn't working. Any help would be appreciated.
If the link above doesn't work, I'll do a new on in a new post. Thanks
It sounds like you did not pull the page down properly. You need to make sure that all of your images are mapped to the correct folder, and the same goes with your background. You can work on the Page Properties by going to Modify-->Page Properties-->Appearence.
Can anyone tell me how to add those neat buttons that you place the curser over and they give you a drop down menu??? I'm trying to make a more proffessional looking website....
Geocities is giving me a lot of grief concerning updating my website. When I try to click on File Manager (and change from my old website address to my domain name) I can only see fetching data. I have tried to email them and call too but not getting any answers. Is any one else experiencing this problem? It started when they made a big change over at Geocities. My bill went up and the service went out the window! Grrrrr!
...See MoreIs there a reason why you are using their control panel online (File Manager), and you are not using an FTP program like FileZilla (which is free)?
Using FTP to upload/download/edit/move "file manage" ... it the best way to control and manage files.
Most online File Managers and control panels are terrible.
