Teaching Jobs on Teachers.Net

Our school board is talking about getting a webmaster or online service that will be totally responsible for all webpages on our site (teacher pages, etc.).

They want all the pages to follow the same template and they want control of individual webpages to be taken from the teachers.

I'm the elementary lab teacher and my webpage is my lifeline for teaching. My students go on my page and click my links for the lessons of the day. I keep powerpoints in readiness on my page. I also have teacher resource pages where I am continually linking sites that align with our state standards.

How might what the board is proposing affect how I teach?

Anyone have any idea?
techteacher Are your teaching pages on the school's server? If so, perhaps they could leave them alone. I don't see any purpose for all of the teacher pages to look the same.... but they're not asking me! Maybe they want you all to use a wiki or moodle/joomla. You can customize those pretty easily.

Our powers that be haven't openly discussed this (OP) But we think it's because one new board member is more interested in PR than in what's needed for student achievement.

But that's just our opinion.

Right now, the entire school website is hosted on one of our servers. The thing I'm concerned about has been my lab webpage.

Jean Bullock Write a letter to the board explaining how you use your web page as a teaching tool and that you need to administer it yourself. Show concrete examples of why it is necessary. Perhaps they will make an exception in your case. Good luck to you.
