In my old school, I used to teach my juniors how to do Ukrainian eggs - complete with bees wax, kiskas, dye, eggs, etc. At my new school, we have overhead sprinklers and these don't work well with the candles we need to melt the wax. I hate to give up this project as it really strengthens students spatially and has even helped some with geometry. Besides, it's a blast and the students love it. Any suggestions? Catahoula
Jennifer/1&2/Alberta I like the traditional method best, but I have seen two other versions you might want to try. (Experiment first!!) You can use masking tape on the egg, round stickers, etc. and then dip in the dye. I've also seen wax crayons used.

Catahoula Thanks Jennifer! Sorry I didn't get back to you. We were able to find a room in the building that was large enough to do the traditional Ukrainian eggs without setting off the sprinklers - the banquet hall of the Church. We also did the tape and crayons too! Thanks!
