Next month this same school could use $hare to collect donations. A smartphone app that allows users to donate to your event, other school events, churches, non profits, even tip people. People enter their payment info one time then they can donate to any cause that accepts $hare.
To accept donations from $hare it takes you 5 minutes to set up and no fees other than normal credit card processing.
I am happy to go over how to do this and how it works in more detail. Send a note to [email removed]

HERE IS THE LETTER I GOT IN RESPONSE
Thank you for contacting DonorsChoose.org! We truly apologize for this issue.
Yesterday we released a new feature to send emails to teachers when their projects become eligible for an Almost Home or Double Your Impact offer. We were excited about this new feature, as we always like to give teachers as much information as possible and alert them to any new opportunity. Since your project qualified for The Seth Sprague Educational and Charitable Foundation Almost Home offer, you received a copy of this email letting you know.
As mentioned in that email, although a logo appeared on your project page, funding from Seth Sprague Educational and Charitable Foundation was not guaranteed, as a lot of projects qualify for each available offer and only some actually receive funding in each case. However, offers do usually remain on projects for much longer than a day. We were shocked at the response from teachers to these emails! It seems that teachers were so excited about this opportunity that many emailed friends, causing the funding to run out in this case much more quickly than we ever expected - more than ten times faster than usual.
--------In your case it sounds like the offer ran out before you even made it to your project page--------
Thus, this funding has been spent out, so funds no longer remain to be applied to additional requests. We are truly sorry for any confusion this email may have caused and are working hard to ensure that this does not happen again. Please also know that your projects still have an awesome chance of full funding on DonorsChoose.org - especially during back to school season! It looks like you have already benefited from another recent opportunity through Adam Lambert.
Thanks for all that you do and please let me know if you have any further questions. For full details on Almost Home offers, check out the follow FAQ on our site: [link removed].
Best, Abigail

HERE IS THE LETTER I WROTE BACK TO DONOR'S CHOOSE
Dear Donor's Choose,
This is truly unfortunate. You said "it seems that teachers were so excited about this opportunity that many emailed friends, causing the funding to run out in this case much more quickly than we ever expected - more than ten times faster than usual. In your case it sounds like the offer ran out before you even made it to your project page."
I was so "excited" but the mailing you sent out was extremely misleading. I had NO idea what you were up to. You did give your members ANY indication that this project would be going through and it was first come first serve. In many ways it reminds me of a bait and switch - and I truly feel swindled out of an opportunity that I was never supposed to get in the first place. I think you need to make a public apology to your members on your webpage and find a better way of announcing opportunities so this never happens again. Please note I am posting a copy of this letter on your Facebook page so that others can learn from this experience.

This after all the attacks on teachers and how bad they are....it just was too much. I feel like giving up. I have not gotten any new supplies for my classrom for over 3 years. Guess I will just go buy the things I asked for , like I always do.

I noticed "Donors Choose" requires that all purchases go through THEM. What's up with that? Are they getting a kickback from vendors? Are the products overpriced to allow a kickback? Don't the teachers know best who they need to buy from? Seems very fishy to me.
Recently, I heard from a friend a web...See MoreI don't know about you guys, but I strongly dislike fundraisers. I feel they pressure people into buying unnecessary items they would otherwise never use. Both parents and PTA members are becoming more and more disenfranchised with fundraising. It is becoming harder than ever to meet fundraising goals.
Recently, I heard from a friend a website named Preferred Essentials. They seem to be an online school fundraising website that allows users to purchase everyday snack items online. 20&37; of your purchase goes back to your school!
I think this is a neat concept because it doesn't require a lot of effort from the parents and teachers. I just figure I put the name out there for all of you to see.

Freefundraisingmoney.com was developed in response to the "fundraising jars" that one often sees at gas stations and local convenience and grocery stores. The fundraisers desperately need funds for their causes; a child's medical expenses; housing or necessities for those that have recently experienced a tragedy; a mission trip fund, or even final expenses for those who've lost a loved one and struggle to pay for the unexpected loss. Unfortunately, the fundraising jars often contain only a few dollars and change -hardly enough to make a difference in the lives of the families in need. It's not that those in the community don't want to help. There are lots of great fundraising sites on the internet, an many would give if they weren't themselves struggling to make ends meet. Freefundraisingmoney.com was created to meet this need by providing quick, easy access to unlimited free funding for worthwhile causes. Please watch our short video below to see how it works. If you know of anyone that could use fundraising money, but doesn't want to have to ask, or needs more than their friends, family, and/or community members can provide, please "like" our page, and tell them about freefundraisingmoney.com. Thanks so much for your time and support. freefundraisingmoney.com: Work Less, Raise More!
