Hi All, Please Join Us in our Postcard Exchange!!! We are getting closer!
We still need Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wyoming!
Postcard exchange open to any grade level. New Hampshire teachers-I need one more classroom to join my postcard exchange. We have 49 states and Puerto Rico! Just need NH. We have been exchanging for ~10 years and have a successful exchange rate! If you're in NH, please consider joining us!
We are a unique group because most years we have 100% participation. This means you will receive 50 postcards - one from each state and Canada! That is how we all end up with one postcard from each state, plus Canada too.
You have to mail out 50 postcards - they can all be the same. You type the same thing on each postcard describing your state and what the students do in the winter. (Glue sticks are wonderful)
If you are interested in joining, please reply to my email address with the info I need to set you up. dahliamrsk@gmail.com
If you decide to join, I am glad because this Postcard Exchange is made up of a great group of enthusiastic teachers. Our response rate is so good that most of the teachers keep signing up year after year to be part of the exchange! This is the 17th year of our exchange!
In order to set you up for the Exchange, I would appreciate if you could provide me with your name, exact school address for mailing purposes, and the grade level you teach.
I also need to know how you would like your name listed on the postcards. (For example: Mrs. Kugelman's 3rd Grade class, Mrs. Jill's Class, or the 4th Graders in Room 5).
I am creating a list of everyone's school address and will organize the list into labels and/or a Word file for easy mailing for everyone. We include one teacher from all of the 50 states plus Canada.
I usually ask the students to bring in 3-4 postcards of their state (appropriate for school). I also ask the school district to pay the mailing costs. Please note that we do not use homemade postcards, only commercially-made postcards may be used for our exchange. Some teachers use VistaPrint and create their own postcard that looks just like a commercially-made postcard.
Some people buy postcards on Amazon. Here is the link to the CA one. You just search for postcard vintage. This is only for 20 postcards though: https://www.amazon.com/GREETINGS-CALIFORNIA-identical-postcards-1930s-1940s/dp/B00XW8KRPA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1530748371&sr=8-1&keywords=california+postcard+vintage
The mailing date for all the postcards is in November.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at dahliamrsk@gmail.com

** If you want to include letters from students / teacher, that is fine. Just please also include a postcard.
** We do a state book each year in class, so we don't need information about your state. Instead, tell us some interesting things about your community / classroom / school!!
