Making the interim person feel as welcome as possible is important.That first impression of you as a public supervisor creates a lasting image. Being present when the student arrives is a welcoming gesture. There were many procedures that were useful to me when I did my student teaching. I have incorporated them into my schedule so the students can have a meaningful and educational learning experience. The more you use them the more familiar they become to you. First, I make a packet with various kinds of information about our school and classroom. The packet includes a copy of the school schedule,handbook,student list, a list of special activities that occur during their clinical(field trips,assemblies, etc.) and names of other teachers who may be helpful when they need assistance or have a question if I am unavailable for some reason.
