My husband and I are looking for a better place to live...not so urban, more trees/lakes, home with land (couple acres), lower cost of living, etc. It would be nice to be near a university (I'm getting my doctorate and want to teach at the college level eventually). I will have my principal's license soon and would like to be a Principal or AP in 2 years. We are currently in the Phoenix area, but we're originally from MN and looking for a similar area to live, but just not as cold!! Any recommendations of towns in Arkansas to begin looking at?
There are a couple of good places in Arkansas to live and are close to universities. Start by checking out the following places: Conway, Cabot, Vilonia, Jonesboro, Searcy and the Fayetteville area. You may also check out the Fayetteville area. It is large (not huge), but has a lot of outlying suburbs that are nice.

I was going to agree with the places your other response sent and add a few. Arkansas has 3 colleges or universities in Conway, also Little Rock is only 25-30 miles away. Greenbrier is another good place.
Siloam Springs. 35 minutes from Fayetteville. Small town yet beautiful. Cost of living is lower . Schools are great and we also have a university in town. John Brown!

Fayetteville, Arkansas (Home of the University of Arkansas) and surrounding towns, Prairie Grove, Farmington, etc. are in beautiful Northwest Arkansas. NW Arkansas is the home of Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, J.B. Hunt and several national trucking companies. Listed as the #1 place to live in America.
