Springdale Teach Sorry to be a downer, but competiton is high in EVERY district in Northwest Arkansas, including Springdale and all the smaller school districts in the area. Adding to the MAT grads from the UofA, two small districts in the area are possibly closing next year, and many of those teachers are trying to find jobs also. Jenn It certainly depends on the district. I live in the Nashville area--there are some districts around here who are still looking for teachers to fill openings from May, and there are some districts that might as well not even advertise openings because they're filled as soon as they're available. It is VERY competitive in Arkansas, you're right. I just got a job in a central Arkansas public school after two years of trying to do so. It might be best to go to a smaller district first, get to know lots of people and then try to get in to a bigger one. Vicki I do not think it is hard to get a job in AR. I have never had a problem. I think alot of it depends on what you teach and where you want to teach. I had a friend who moved to NWA and had a job in April before school was even out for the following year. What part of AR are you looking at?
