Hi, I was wondering if there's a web site that compares ratings and scores of all the Tempe high schools. Which high school within the TUHS is the highest performing and lowest performing? Thank you.
Remember - this is the only district I know of that purposely looks for teachers to get rid of every year (I think they have a given quota to meet). Could this constant turnover be an issue? The top scoring schools throughout the valley that I know of have excellent site administration - they truly appreciate and support the staff. They are approachable, highly liked and respected by their staff. Could this be the best way to make a difference??
The vast majority of administrators have more responsibilities than teachers do.
They are struggling to manage all the duties that teachers don't have, but have been trained to look for instructors that don't manage their students or fail to teach effectively.
I was a principal for many years.
I can write stories on teacher observations that really only took a few minutes that determined how effective or ineffective a teacher was.
An empty classroom with no sign of learning is easy to detect. A classroom replete with learning materials and student work points to at least an instructor who is trying.
I an sorry you have such a negative outlook on the upper staff. If you are an instructor, maybe it's time to move on or change your course of life. Take care!!

If you are a good teacher, please consider applying to Mesa Public Schools. There are many positions for many types of positions. IT's a good district overall.
Terrywhat percentage of the kids are on the breakfast plan?

I was recently hired to teach 3rd grade at Casa Grande and have to move from NY. The job would start July 24 so I want to be there by July 21 AT THE LATEST!
Do any teachers HAVE or know of rooms or aparments that are close to the schools, reasonably priced (500-600), safe and quiet? Being a newb to the profession is stressful enough, I don't want the drama associated w/ living with some weirdo I meet on craigslist or living in sum slum where I hear violence and drug deals through the wall.
If anyone does have a place, please respond to this post with the details.

From what I understand, AIMS was going to be replaced with PAARC in 2015, but now that will not be the case...a new assessment will be voted in during this coming fall?
SVNThat is my understanding also. They have pulled out of the PARCC Consortium and are looking at others. It does not mean they definitely will not use PARCC just that they are looking at other options and will decide sometime in the fall.

This situation is a crying shame. I remember looking at videos from 2001 when this state was hiring like mad.

I know Hawaii has isues--they jusat went to 4 day school week- - but if your job is stable stay there. No you won't get 40 K with 5 years of experience and a masters.. you won't even get hired with that.

I just found out my school was just rated Non-performing despite the fact that we have a great primcipal. What does this mean for the teachers and the higher ups? I am afraid to go back!!
I believe the school is put on a probationary period for a certain time (3 years?) and if they do not improve, the state can come in and do a sweep (get rid of teachers, principals, etc.). I have been trying to google a good, clear-cut answer but I was unable to find anything.
