Hi Student Teacher; my daughters went to the school Phoenix, not really cracked up to what it was marketed as. Some strange stuff here: Majority of Teachers and principal are from Turkey (mostly men) very difficult to understand. They were teaching ethnic studies, Turkish language, song and dance. My kids and I all went to Turkey for my daughters to perform. The school places a lot of emphasis on the Turkish Olympiads we have one in AZ. I am from Central America and felt that Spanish was frowned upon by these hard to understand teachers. Mucho dinero into marketing, claims of high standards, awards, waiting lists, trips to Turkey with local politicians and media, but equipment and textbooks were outdated. When I went to meetings it was always about "how to raise more money" yet they get a reimbursement from the state on a per child basis. Call me crazy but where is the money going for all the HB-1 Visas to bring more uncredentialed teachers from Turkey or for free trips to the media to promote the school and Turkey? What would concern me if I was working here, is the American teachers seem to have a high turnover. Not sure what the issue is cannot put my finger on it. But we have moved and will be back at public traditional school in Tempe. What do you have to lose, hey it's a teaching job with so many teachers getting pink slips I would jump at it with eyes wide open. I did find this web site when I did a search on this school, seems they are part of a chain that manages charter schools. My girls did have a nice time and made good friends. But in the end not convinced the education was better. [link removed]
I know my school is looking for two positions. 7th grade science and 7th grade social studies. Just like everywhere else, they are looking for HQ teachers in those areas. We are located in the almost far west valley Phoenix.
If this fits you, let me know and i will give more details.

I was raised on the west side of Phoenix, but now teach screenwriting & filmmaking in Vancouver.
My new primer, FILMMAKING WIZARDRY is available for teachers wanting to introduce filmmaking into their classrooms this fall. The book is a step-by-step guide to the filmmaking process, with lots of check lists and links to broaden your knowledge of the craft.
And, there's a special discount for teachers who buy in bulk too, so you can share the book with your students OR use it as a fund-raiser for your school!
Introduce some creative chaos to your classroom this fall and have FUN!

Stop spamming the board. You're just as bad as the woman who tries all the time to get people to be a life coach.

Why not go to a community college which is inexpensive and get your credits that way. Do a reading endorsement, if you do not have one or something else.
Unfortunately though, you're stuck. You can't get out of a contract for that reason unless you wanted to pay a steep fee and possibly have your certificate revoked for the entire academic year.
I feel your pain and wish I had better news. I just suffered through this last year and it was miserable. Granted, I was at a school that hadn't made AYP for several years in a row, so what was expected of us was far greater than what you'll go through... but it's tough.
My suggestion is to gear up for a rough year and, come wintertime, if you're still unhappy you can get an early start on the job search. That's what I did and I'm out of that situation.
Try to make the best of it and take it as a learning experience. :(

I am going to be working as a Lead teacher for 6-9 at a Montessori school in North Central, Arizona. I just found that out today and also that I have no assistant, will be doing home visits. I am wondering if home visits are a part of being a Montessori teacher or is it something that the school implements. I have spent the last three weeks with a fast paced training and no real time to ask a lot of "housekeeping" questions. How should a Montessori teacher begin setting things up? I am not even sure how to go about setting up my room, a lesson plan book and recording my "grades." I know that in a Montessori classroom, that there are no grades, but how does one keep track and should they be recorded in a gradebook? Are there any good computer software programs for Montessori teachers? If so, what are they and are they successful? All ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will begin work next Monday, July 28th, but I will be checking in with my employer on Thursday.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I truly appreciate it. :)
