Yes, I third the comments on Littleton. It;s bad!! Attracts the inexperienced admin. and teachers are treated poorly duew to low test scores. Good luck!!

The districts are Marana, Tucson Unified Schooo District (The largest one), Flowing Wells, Catalina USD, Red Rock USD, Continental USD, Amphitheater and Alter Valley. It is the luck of the draw to find a job. These days it does not matter how much experience you have. Sometimes, the districts are swamp with applicants for gen ed, especially with the new grads. I do not know about San Diego, but we have had a lot of lay offs in some districts over the past two years.

SEI is required of all teachers. The pro. ESL is first than full ESL I got my full ESL because I came with one from another state.
Sped certification is ONLY seven classes BTW and available on-line thru PIMA CC in Tucson option 2 with the Intern lic. in sped is great..

I am moving to AZ this summer and need to know what are good areas to live. I have a teenager, so I am also looking for a good high school. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I'm so glad you have had a good experience with this program. I like that it keeps us all aimed at teaching the common core standards from K-12. We have never really been on the same page in our school district, especially with Math. Many of our teachers are bad-mouthing it saying it will take sooo much prep time, but I think it will be the best thing that has happened to us for a long time. I also love the Reteach and Enrich part. I have wanted this for math for such a long time and finally, because of budget constraints, we are getting it! Go figure. How does the reteach and enrich work for you-all? Does kindergarten do this portion of BT? I teach 2nd grade. How do your 2nd grade teachers like it? Thanks for your feedback :)
First let me apologize for not responding to you sooner. I just checked back to this site right now. Been busy. I haven't seen the reteach and enrich part. Where would that portion be? I did use a lesson recently for a job interview I had with success with this and in the classroom. I have to be honest, I am not sure if our kinder teachers (or the other aides) have used BT. I think that most of the second grade teachers like it, but again I am not too sure. :(

Job opportunity for afterschool tutoring. We have openings available immediately in reading and math at the student's school. Per hourly rate is $25-$40. Central Phoenix. Current finger print clearance card required. [email removed]
I am hoping that someone can help me. I am looking for any free professional development opportunities. I currently have a Bachelor's degree in Special Education/Elementary Ed., Master's degree in Counseling/Human Relations, an SEI endorsement and Reading Specialist endorsement as well. I am looking for p.d. opportunities in order to keep my Standard K-8 teaching certificate active.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance with this matter.
It is very hard to find free PD courses. The least expensive way to do it is to take the IDEAL courses through ASU extension (online). It is on the ADE website. Courses are usually $65.00. The only way I know to get free PD is through your district.
I have similar qualifications so not looking for another end. or another Masters. Check out Cochise college has some on-line courses they are $80.00 each and give you 24 hours and ADE has ok and super easy I have done a few..
Most anything on the west side is going to be rough. Anywhere where parents are struggling with basic survival needs is going to be bad since the kids doing have the basics and schools must provide free meals. There are many posts or comments about Littleton on here. I can't speak of this school but it is generally known as the school to stay away from. Schools are only as good as the people who work there and I have heard Littleton attracts the bottom of the barrel. Hopes this helps.
