The worst is yet to come and projected to be far worse than the teacher shortage in 2007. Now may be a good time to negotiate your contract when it is due to see if you can command a pay increase.

It is starting to happen all over the country but it is particularly bad in low pay states like AZ. It is hitting California too though because even though their salaries seem a lot higher, their high cost of living and high state income tax, and teachers are struggling there. I know non-teachers who make $100,000+ in San Fran who live in a one bedroom dump and pay $3000 per month for it. Can you imagine living on a teacher's salary there? I can't...
That is just the money side of things. The testing focus, poor treatment by administrators, students, parents, politicians, and everyone else, and the complete lack of support has driven people off and is keeping people away.
Thanks in advan...See MoreI am a grad school student at miami university as well as middle school science teachers. I am conducting a study on the uses of environmental education in the classroom. If anyone interested could complete this very short survey It would be very appreciated.
"Here’s what I learned from our Spanish-speaking ELL students, and here are the suggestions I will be passing on to content-area teachers about what they can do to help ELL students learn English and learn their content. (And by the way, these ideas will help everyone in the room. There’s nothing strictly ELL about them.)"

I am thinking of retaking (yet again) either the AEPA or the NES test for Elementary Education. I have taken it in the past and get so close, but not perfect. I study the material religiously, but I can't seem to get over the anxiety issue. I have tried many different forms of meditation with no luck. Any thoughts? Also my certificate expires in November. Should I just apply for an extension until I get this and the p.d hours I need? I don't know what to do. Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
What PD hours do you need I think that comes with the Standard certificate. Yes do an extension do you have your AZ and US con. tests done? Try another states test and do reciprocity maybe..
