I was on a temp contract last year till the end of the school year at a school, as a resource teacher, that I like very much. I worked well with all the teachers, other SPED teachers and students. At the end of the year, they did not know if there would be another full time opening. They were waiting to see if this other school in the district was going to be merging with the school I was in.

To make a long story short, I felt that I could not wait until after school started and be put on a temp contract again. So, I accepted a K,1,2 ED position at another school in the district. In the meantime, the governing board approved the merger and another FT resource teacher was approved to hire. The principal emailed me and asked me to come back (even though I have to go through the interviewing process). My heart just sunk because I really want to be back at the school where I was. I have not signed a contract as yet. The only thing I signed was for what my salary will be.

ap It sounds like you need to talk to your principal and ask him/her to talk to HR on your behalf. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, then there likely isn't a whole lot you can do, except applying for the position anyway and then seeing how it goes.

legally........ they can't do anything to you. You wouldn't be violating anything to go back to the school you originally want to teach in. The other principal is just scaring you. No one wants to rehire for a position they just thought they filled. Don't worry about it and go apply at the school where you want to work and in the meantime, don't sign a contract wi...See More

LB My experience has been that sometimes the HR personnel doesn't really know what they are talking about! So I think they are wrong or maybe just trying to avoid having to interview someone else.

I would do what your principal suggested and apply for the position.

Good luck! > > I called and emailed the HR program coordinato...See More
