I live in rural Arizona and have to drive quite a distance to the school where I work. With the budget the way it is in Arizona, I haven't had a raise in years. I have had pay cuts. Now, with gas over 3 dollars a gallon, I'm finding that I can't even afford to drive to work. I can't afford a new and more economical car, so I need to conserve and save gas. Here's the best site I can find on saving gas.
ap Even if your salary stays the same (as my husband's has for three years in a row) you still get a pay cut due to paying more for insurance and paying higher co-pays and also being forced to contribute more and more to the state retirement fund each year.

Jonathan Yes, I couldn't agree more. Then, we have to take furlough days and abandon any hope of professional development raises. The result is that we are taking significant cuts. Mike I want to be nice. But, be glad that you at least have a job because there are plenty of people who are unemployed. Count your blessings and realize that things could be much worse.
