I completed my credential preparation out of state and just got a job in CA. I currently have a valid certificate of clearance, but upon filling out my paper application with my employer for a tier 1 credential, I was asked the 6 professional fittest questions again. Just curious why did I have to ask them again? Thanks for your help.
I am an ELA teacher for a middle and high school STEM academy in Northern California. Recently I began using the Daily 5 & CAFE frameworks to structure my classes. Is anyone in the area using these? I'd love to come and observe.
1. Can a foreigner get teaching jobs at California ? Yes, but they need to secure appropriate immigration status. You need a Green Card and you'll have to get that on your own.
2. WIll the school districts consider my application ? If you don't have the legal right to work in the US, it is highly unlikely.
3. Will I be granted H1-B visa ? I have never, ever heard of a school district taking on the process and expense of getting an H1-B visa for a prospect. That doesn't mean it hasn't ever happened, but it strikes me as unlikely given the cost and licensing issues.
4. Can you show up any potential pathways for me to become a teacher ? Not all teachers are created equal in California, or the US as a whole. If you want any chance for your teaching career to get you to the US, you need to pursue a teaching sub-field that is in demand. Right now, in California, they need Special Education, Spanish speaking teachers, Math, and some Sciences. Even then it will be hard to convince a district to even consider hiring you, but there may be a chance.
I have heard of teachers coming over from other countries, particularly Spanish speaking countries, on some type of visa or another and working in schools. I don't know what visa they applied for or how that process works.
Honestly, if you want to immigrate to the US, or Canada, Australia, or Europe, you should do what your Indian compatriots have done and seek skills and a degree in Computer Science or other sciences. I personally know a few people from India who have found it (relatively) easy to immigrate to the US with tech and/or science skills. The education field in the US does not have the money to support bringing people in from other countries, even if we need them in high need teaching fields. It may happen in a very few, isolated incidents, but there is no large scale program. Since education in the US is largely government supported, it is highly unlikely that, given our current President, our federal government would support an expanded program of bringing in non-citizens to teach in our public schools. Trump just doesn't like immigration or immigrants that aren't from Europe or other white countries. I don't agree with him, but we are where we are until at least 2021.
I have to write a two page essay, preferably front and back on one paper. I'm having a hard time understanding the education and credentials I will need from my local college website. please help!
Hi, everyone! I'm interested in started a credentialing program and teach Foundational Math. If I decide later that I want to teach at the HS level, what is the process to get a Single Subject Math credential? Would I just have to pass the CSET III and take a Secondary Math Methods course? Thank you!
I managed to obtain a CA teaching credential, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to order an official (preferably notarized) copy of my credential. All I can find is how print out an unofficial copy. Anyone able to help? Thanks!
cubs1977There really isn't an official copy. Many states have done away with that. In California, administrators access your credentials online through CTC's website. There is a "suitable for framing" option where you would print your license and you can print screen your credential information. That's it.
By the way. Did you ask them or answer them. :) Spelling matters.
