Our governor has now decided to make it easier for out-of- state teachers to get teaching jobs here in CT. He also is proposing to do away with tenure. Now, I don't know about anyone else, but in my area, there is already an overabundance of in-state teachers - and few, if any, job openings. I know for a fact that for many positions that are posted, there are well over 50-100 candidates applying for each one. By making it even easier for out-of-state teachers, you might as well double that amount. I have been looking for almost 5 years for a permanent, contractual position to no avail. I have come to the realization that once my husband can apply for early retirement,we are moving to another area. When will these people realize that the teachers are not the problem????
