Nancy Carol Can anyone explain the new hire process. My son (a new college graduate) has several applications out and has not been called for an interview, on CTREAP some of the positions he applied for were filled and he did not receive an interview. He is very discouraged, I appreciate any information you can provide. I never realized teaching was a crowded field. He is a young male, honors deans list Presidentail list, and no position for September. Every job he has had since age 15 was working with children.

AnneCT Hi Nancy,

I do see a disadvantage for him. 6th grade is considered middle school. He will need a content area (math, science, history)to be seriously considered for that age group. Otherwise principals can only have him teach 6th. He would have to earn a new certification to work past 6th grade. In fact many districts are looking for a con...See More

Nancy Carol I thank everyone for their comments and information. It sounds like timing, luck and who you know can help in find a teaching position. Good Luck to you all. A good teacher is the foundation for our next generation and their success.

Tanya My job never came up on REAP - I went to the school district websites and filled out applications. Westport called me based on that as well as Norwalk and Fairfield.
