I flew back to the US to take four different subject exams, the GK, and the Professional Ed exam. So far, I didn't pass three of the subject exams, but I nailed the GK (though waiting on the essay). I still take the Reading K-12 In two days and then take the Professional Ed exam on the 26th. Any recommendations for those two exams?
***GK Exam: Somebody already mentioned the two topics: health and the need for math/science/ESL teachers. I would just focus on spelling, grammar and essay organization. Considering you are expected to write an essay in 50 minutes, there shouldn't be a high expectation for any prior quantitative research. Also, for those who have never taken it, editing your essay can be a pain because typing something new deletes what is in front of it, so it helps to be a fast typer.
I passed the reading, English Language Skills and Math, but the reading section actually took quite a bit of critical thinking. You really need to be able to identify the meaning of certain sentences and passages and it's actually quite tricky.
For both reading and math, I recommend just poring through the practice exams that the ftce offers on examedge. There really is no better way to prepare, and definitely use that 'mark' button as this is a pass/no pass exam. Just focus on getting the questions that you know, not 100% (or, you'll get worried and fail).

Good evening everybody. I just found out about this chatboard. I wish you all to pass all the tests. I still need to pass the essay part. Hopefully, you guys will continue sharing with us your experiences about the topic. We all need to keep our jobs, our families depending on this too. Thank you again.
Dear, I will take the test on Wednesday 11, when I finish I am going to post the topics...I want to thanks for all the information, my desire is the same with you, I hope to pass all the test.
Thank you Sue! I couldn't respond under your post because I'm having trouble signing into my account. All your efforts to help others pass the exam is greatly appreciated.
JulietteIs only one topic. The first sentence is just like an introduction. The second topic was the one that I posted before. Was about teachers evaluation. You have to choose between those two. The problem is that we need to know the other set of two topics. There are 2 sets of 2 per month
1. Analyze the benefits & challenges of teachers evaluation process.
2. cost and benefit analysis of internet vs reading print book
3. teachers shortage
4. advantages/disadvantages of public speaking courses
NavaEd essay video is very helpful. But it does not include how to write a cost-benefit analysis. I will definitely post the essay topic after I took it. please share yours.
