I might relocate to North/Central GA. Could anyone tell me what the hiring situation is like in Gwinnett?
I have 3 yrs. as an interrelated sped teacher (GA certified). Although I'm 55, would accept salary commensurate with my years of experience (and post bacc. teacher certificate).
The fact that you have some districts helping you through the process is a very good sign. It indicates that you are desired in those districts. You wouldn't get that help if they didn't want you. It's still not a guarantee of a job, but you are closer to one than most candidates. Don't despair if you don't hear something this spring as most districts won't make their hiring decisions until the summer. Good luck.

I welcome any additional tips/suggestions you might have for me, as well. FYI--I am looking at Henry (first choice), Newton, Douglas, Spalding, Paulding, Cherokee (second choice), Bartow, and Forsyth counties. Many thanks in advance for any info! Shan

Most school districts will require you to submit an application along with your resume either online or by mail. Also, most districts do not use TeachGeorgia for recruiting teachers.
Another good option would be to attend the various teacher job fairs. Be warned that you will need to arrive at least two hours early if you hope to talk to someone. Most job fairs last only three hours, and you will be surprised how slow principals interview during a job fair. In addition, most districts will shut down the job fair exactly at the stated end time regardless of whether you had the opportunity to talk to someone. Make sure you bring lots of resumes and copies of your teaching certificate, or you will be turned away.
Also, visiting schools and talking to administrators is another good idea, but you should call the school prior to ensure they will allow this.
Bottom line is don't solely rely on TeachGeorgia to get a job. Use it as one of your many resources.

I commented on another post regarding this bill. It has been stopped. I contacted all involved in this bill and have been contacted and told the bill has been pulled.
