I had been out of teaching for the past year and withdrew my TRS account and just cashed it out by receiving a refund of contributions. I figured since I was staying out of the state, I would find something somewhere else. That didn't pan out either. So after going through the process of getting the refund, I got an email out of the blue offering me a position back in GA. My question is will my closing of my TRS account and receiving the refund of contributions cause any problems from me being able to accept a teaching position in Ga? Thanks for any feedback.

Hello. Does anyone know if my salary will be reduced if I take an elementary teaching position even if my masters degree is not in early childhood education? My masters degree is in secondary education and I have been teaching middle/high school for over 12 years.

If I take the Early Childhood Education GACE and pass it, am I qualified to get a teaching position in an elementary school in Georgia? I am already a (current) certified teacher for grades 6-12 English/ESOL. Thanks!
Is getting media specialist certification worth it? I have heard that the jobs are both hard to get and starting to disappear due to layoffs, etc.... Any advice out there?
I am scheduled to take the GACE--Early Childhood Education soon. Are the GACE study guides worth the money? Does it help you pass the first time? Thank you.
Purviben K. Trivedi-ZiembaYes, they cover the info briefly. Check out GACE preparation guides and frameworks on GACE website.

I am currently in the process of obtaining my high school math certification. Just wondering if anybody knew any good study guides or how to properly prepare for the test. Thank.
First download and print GACE preparation material. GO through frameworks and work on them. Take the practice test to see where you need to prepare.
Next, go to your local library, university library or bookstore. I got Praxis and reagent exam books and studied from there. Now, GACE also have books available. Spend X amount of time daily on studying.
Know the directions. The essay is pretty much same as once on preparation material. Someone told me they changes online essays monthly. So check back to GACE site.
I will also look at End of the tests to see if you know the material. Best wishes
Does anyone know if media specialist and instructional technology are the same thing? Is one better than the other? I want to get qualified to become a media specialist. Any advice or suggestions? Thank you.
My wife taught for about 10 years in gwinnett county and is not at a private school. Can she use her private school years to count toward retirement benefits? I heard she can "buy" years, but is it worth it?
you can buy private school years in with TRS but it's very very expensive. TRS can give you an estimate and you'll have to run numbers to see whether you think it's worth it. If your wife only has 10 years in the most you can buy is 5 (I think...double check this). Five years would be well over $100,000 so you and will only return you 10% of her highest years salary starting at age 60. You could do better investing the money yourself and allowing it to compound. (think in terms of 20-25K/for each year you want to buy and this might even still be a low estimate).
