Rockdale sent ours out via email on 2/17. They are due back today, 2/27.
We can not do a lateral (same type) transfer at any other time (and not without the transfer form completed and sent to HR). If something happens then an "Administrative Transfer" can take place - but not on your request.
I am watching to see how other counties handle in-district transfers.
Would anyone be willing to share their Airtime buyout cost with me privately in an email? I am nearing 25 years in 8 months and I really want to get an idea of the cost but I can't find out until 25. I know it depends on salary, age etc. I am 50 years old. I rather not post salary publicly.
PennyI am also interested in knowing approximately how much a year of air time costs. I had my hopes up of retiring in 4 years, but don't know if it is e ven feasible. Would love to have an idea. I am beginning 24 years this coming fall

Did anyone ever respond? I need to buy 3 months... (david.[email removed])
Does anyone have a positive experience with the Teacher forgiveness loan? I plan to pursue an Ed.D., so the info would be extremely valuable for me. Please advise.
I did not have any loan so far, so if I would take a lian for my graduate school, would they recognize my service in the next 5 years as a way of repaying the lian? Please help!
1) An "immediate" forgiveness is available for teachers at high risk schools or highly certified in high need areas (special education, math, etc). There is a one time payout of $5,000 on your loans for high risk teachers (5 years at title one) and there is a 17,500 for the high need areas.
2) Loan forgiveness of federal loans- check the government Dept. of Ed page for information DO NOT PAY A COMPANY TO SUBMIT YOUR PAPERWORK- You can do it all yourself. They will roll all of your federal loans into one payment that you pay each month for 10 years. After that, your remaining balance is forgiven.

I saw this and goggled to see if I could find anything. I teach in DeKalb so not sure about Gwinnett. According to the article it stated that Gov. Deal wants to increase teacher pay in areas of need (low-income schools, special needs, etc.) That idea has been around for a long time. I teach preschool special ed in a Title 1 school so I would love it!
Even now, just a couple of weeks ago, a teacher at my school commented on how Special Ed Teachers got paid more?! What! That would be nice but we are paid just the same as every teacher.
I know this is TMI (too much info) but wanted to let you know you were heard. I will keep an eye out for more info.
Go to georigstandards.org Click on Standards of Excellence to find out about the standards. The name has been changed again to Georgia Standards of Excellence. Basically the common core goals were tweaked a bit. (For Kindergarten it was a rewording of some goals).
DeKalb just sent us our contracts (Feb. 21).
