How does the salary scale work? If I get a masters in Comm Sci Disorders am I a T-5 or a specialist in a school district? Is there an extra stipend? Anyone recommend certain counties over others? What about counties that use private recruiters? Anyone have any experience with that? Pros Cons? thank you in advance for your help
Hello! Has anyone had trouble logging into the GACE ets account lately? I put in my correct info and it just keeps erasing the username and login fields, returning them to blank boxes. I even tried resetting password but same result. HELP! I need to print an admission ticket!
You don't "transfer." You stop earning a pension in Georgia, and start earning one in South Carolina. If you have at least 10 years in GA's pension, then you'll be eligible when you hit 60, or so, but you don't earn new benefits in the GA plan when you work in SC. You will need to become vested in the SC plan and you will be eligible under their rules.
There isn't a penalty per se, but you probably will not get as much as you would have had you stayed in one state. Some states allow you to buy years once you start teaching there, but it is usually prohibitively expensive. You can withdraw your GA pension contributions, and give up benefits, and possibly buy years in the new state pension, but your withdrawal won't begin to cover the cost to buy up. Unless you have a lot of extra money laying around, that won't be a good path to go down.
I am under contract next year school year 2016-2017, but I am thinking about retiring mid-year Jan 1 2017. I have not told Admins anything about my plans. Can I be penalized in any way for doing this?
I maybe moving this July about 90 miles from my current location. I have already signed my contract and have until May 1st to get out of it. Is there a "moving" clause in the contracts? I don't won't to give up my job until I know for sure I am moving.
I work in Clayton county. This is my first year teaching, and I've just been given a contract for next year. I wish to change Schools / counties....what do I do? I doubt I'll be able to get a job by the 2 week due date they gave me...but I'm afraid to sign it in case I find a job elsewhere....advice please!

I called, and TRS told me that after they receive all necessary forms, including records from your doctor, they submit it to the medical review board, and the process usually takes 1 to 2 weeks.
