Hopefully benefits person will answer this but the rumors I've heard is that they will go away for anyone retiring after Dec. 2012. (COLA are cost of living adjustments for retirees)

That would be quite bad as most of us are not in social security so we have no other protection against inflation. Plus haven't we been told our pension system is SOLID...so why this rumor???

However, this has already happened in FL, so keep your eyes peeled up there in GA. Having a pension with NO COLA is worthless. You will get the same $20k pension ...See More

Oh my... Yes, if you are out of SS and you have a pension with no COLA, you are in deep trouble.

In FL and GA, we pay into Social Security and the pension.

I believe FL eliminated the COLA for future retirees only.
