Hey,

I am teaching in a state Charter school for Fulton county. We only have 40 min planning time per day and recess duty everyday. The rumor is now, that the principal wants us to have our lunch breaks in the cafeteria with the students (lack of custodians,.. helpers,..) Is it legal? Unfortunately our contract does not say much about legal breaks, etc? Can anyone help with the matter? Thanks
ATLTeacher Since Fulton is a charter district, they can set some different rules. For example, a public school is supposed to allow for 30 minute lunch. Fulton allows for 23 in some schools. You may want to check with the charter organization for the state. I'm not sure of the name but the principals have some flexibility, which can be detrimental overall.
