I am considering applying to teach in either Henry County or Newton County. I am an elementary teacher, but I am curious about overall teacher satisfaction within these districts.
Henry County has a great calendar and the schools have a family vibe (mine does). It is a good district (not perfect)- but great for those of us who enjoy teaching.

2015-2016 contracts will be handed out soon. I do not plan to return to my present county but have not secured a job for next year yet. If I go ahead and sign the contract with my present school system, do I have a certain amount of time in which without penalty I can void the contract OR will I be bound to the contract if I sign it?
I have been a teacher in NC for 7 years. I have always loved GA and I am looking for a change. I was wanting some insight to teacher conditions in GA. TIA

Until recently it was great! Now, with the TKES program most now hate their jobs.
I just got a job this past school year, after graduating in 2009. I hate it! My admin is horrible, mean, nasty woman. Fellow teachers are back stabbers. The kids are aweful!
Several years ago, counties were given the option to take out SS or not. Many of the counties opt not take out SS. You need to check with the county. I'm sure there must be of a list of counties that do or don't. Anne
Hello, my name is Katie. I currently attend Geand Canyon University, based in Arizona. They have an online degree for Masters in Elementary Education. I need someone I could interview about school assessment procedures.
I am an English teacher currently teaching SpringBoard, and I am getting sick of it. I am trying to find the names of counties that give English teachers some freedom to be creative in how they teach. In other words, I am looking for places that have not adopted curricula like SpringBoard or the units created by the GA Education Dept. I want to be able to create and use my own materials to teach the standards, not have materials provided for me. If you know of such a place, please pass it along to me. Thanks!
15 years into teaching elementary and I need a change bad!! Anyone have advice about switching to teaching high school? What I could expect and can I just tale the gace to do it? Thank you!!
Other major differences include not having the same kids all day, but teaching more kids per day (up to 130 or more, depending on the schedule). Also, the number of subjects you will teach will be fewer. You could just teach one single subject all day, or up to three different ones. You might teach the same subject with different grades, such as 9th and 10th grade English. Some places keep the kids in the same classes all year, others change completely at the semester.
