stay at home Mom/Teacher needing PLUs

I am teacher staying home to raise my kids. I am having a hard time finding affordable courses to get the PLUs necessary for recertification.The state issued list is out of date and many of the contacts listed are not responding. Any ideas?

reading teacher You may not need PLUs to renew your certification this time around. Check with Professional Standards Commission.

I was out of the country for the last few years, so every time I came back to GA, I took a course or two so that I would be ready to renew...didn't need it!

Georgia1999 When does your certification expire? Mine expires June 2013, and because of the cut back in teachers, they are allowing those that expire this June of 2013 to renew it without any PLUs.

Georgia1999 No. You have to pass the GACE content test. Is your degree from an accredited university? Look up "highly qualified teachers" and that will also be helpful. Has anyone had any experience with Georgia Cyber Academy? What do you know? Is it a good online choice to work for or allow your children to attend? Thanks in advance.

GA SpEd I have a friend who teaches for them. She loves it. You probably won't make as much money as a traditional teacher, depending on the subject. They pay per student, not on a schedule like we are. It affords her the chance to be home with her toddler, so she doesn't mind. As for attending it, I can't say.
