What is your school's policy on Christmas in the classroom? How do you adapt your December activities when there are children of other cultures? What do you do about Santa Claus, his reindeer, his elves, and his existence?
My goal is to develop an interest in writing and Language Arts skills. I will also prepare your child for the upcoming ISAT exam, in which students will be required to write constructive responses.

I am applying for a provisional license. I have a feeling it is a matter of just not checking the right box. I know that in WI we are prek-9 and 9-12 instead of the prek-12 that IL is, can that really be what is holding me back?
Read your deficiency statement carefully. There is next to no way out of taking the tests. Sign up and take them. You can take 2 or 3 on the same day. Mine was very straight forward about how I needed to take 9 more semester hours of coursework.
The phone isn't useless, you just have to get to the right person. It can take time and effort, but eventually someone will help you. I had to fight tooth and nail to get my certificate renewed. I had to fight IBSE to get my certificate after moving here from CA.
If you do have to take more courses, get them pre-approved. Find the initials of your evaluators and fax in the course descriptions of the classes you're considering. Then you will know for sure that those courses will count and you'll be all set
Take them and resubmit once you have the results. NfmOn 1/24/12, Michael wrote: > >> >> Thank you both ... I was no renewed for the next school year, however, every district asks if you have no been renewed or asked to resign - and if so, to write an explanation. What should I do?

Quite a few teachers in my building were told they aren't being rehired for next year. These are not RIFs, yet every one of them is getting interviews.
Of the teachers who were let go last year, all but one ended up finding another teaching job.
Actually, a good number of Illinois districts don't lay-off, or reduce-in-force. They simply non-renew the required teachers that need to go. In a neighboring district, they did not renew any non-tenured teachers (though they may offer contracts later). The ones being let go for performance got the same letter and were dismissed by the same board vote as those who were essentially being laid off. No way to tell the difference from the outside.

Every time you post, you seem to ignore the fact that I'm not on the outside looking in here. I AM an administrator. I DO the hiring when we have openings. There is no mystical "they," here.

No need to make up something about non-tenured people. They aren't "fired." They work yearly contracts. Their contract has a beginning and an end date. If they aren't offered another contract, they just go away. No need to fabricate evidence as you suggest.

If I remember right, you were in a weak tenure state. In Illinois, it took my district 2 full years, and a lot of money, to fire a tenured teacher who showed videos 50% of the time and had silent reading the rest.
You were fired. You probably were never hired again because you are incredibly negative and believe that your situation is common.

Except in my district where we don't do that. And in the several neighboring districts where teachers we have dismissed got jobs. But, other than that... they'll never get a job because you can't. You just continue to heap negativity and falsehood on people.
IMTeacherOur district uses them. Not overly impressed but I suppose not horrible.
