I know I'm troll feeding and arguing with an individual who clearly has an agenda, but I'm so sick of hearing the comparisons between education and the private sector. Stop it. Stop it right now. Don't be so myopic. It's not the same thing. You absolutely cannot compare the two. Why you ask? Money. Money, money, money. In the private sector your ultimate end is to make money. To make money for yourself, to make money for your boss, to make money for your company. A boss can deal with any employee as long as he or she thinks that the worker is making them money and making money for the company. As long as your compensation is lower than your real or perceived monetary value to the company, you're worth it.

In education, this is not the end. The stakes are not about money. The product of my work is not money, but about the development and fostering of the next generation of citizens of this country. The justification of employment is not so black and white as "Does Employee X m...See More
