My district has been saying for a year that it will soon be a requirement in Illinois for every teacher to have an ESL endorsement. Has anyone else heard that? Or could it be that teacher prep programs will have to include the ESL coursework in the future??
me too I actually just heard this last week. Some friends of mine work in the far burbs (Woodstock) and their administrators said exactly what you said. I imagine it will become part of the education program at any college in which one is earning a degree/certification. Laura You can get an ESL or bilingual (if you speak another language) endorsement through American College of Ed for 4 to 6,000, I think.
