If you are interested in joining or know someone who is, please email me and be sure to send your email address so I can correspond with you. We would really like to have KS represented in our exchange.
I wish I could tell you...but this is still new to us...I anticipate we'll receive more info about it in our back to school in-services. For now, I think you could find info on the Ks St Bd of Ed site....ksde..or KNEA...knea.org lu PS...jobs are pretty hard to find...do you have any leads? What part of KS are you interested in?
I did a bit of checking...actually the site you want is ksbe.state.ks.us......and then the "Teacher Education and Licensure" section has info on "HQ Survey Info" I think you might find the website informative...it also tells about licensure requirements and has available jobs listed. Good Luck!
My husband may be transferred to the K.C. area and I have 23 years of experience. Does Olathe, Shawnee Mission, Blue Springs, etc. pay for full experience? How do you like your District? Thank you.
I can't answer your question...I'm about an hour north of KC. Try going on the webpages for the districts and investigating. I think you mean Blue Valley (Blue Springs is NE of KC in MO) and all the others you mentioned are in SW KC in KS. Also, check out Bonner Springs, Garner, Louisberg, and DeSota. DeSota School are growing rapidly and may need new staff. Also, Basehor-Linwood in fairly close. Good Luck PS...I think you'd love the KC area...(don't know where you're relocating from...but KS people are very friendly and helpful!)
We are a new postcard exchange, and we need a kinder, first, or second grade class from Kansas to participate. You will need to purchase 50-55 postcards to mail to all of the other states (and maybe a few to Canada). I am compiling all of the information, and will send all of the addresses out as soon as all of the "spots" are filled. In return, you will receive a postcard from every state, all throughout the year. This is a very exciting project! Please join us!

Tracie, I am a first year, first grade teacher in wichita, Kansas. I would be interested in having my class participate in your post card exchange. Please email me with more specific instructions. Thanks, Paula Fawcett [email removed]
You say...if a kid who is in fourth grade comes to you and is reading at a 1st grade level and you can't bring them up so they can pass a stupid test, then you will be FIRED!!! That is how great NCLB is...no teacher is safe.

Or how about it was brought about because too many teachers whine and want to create fear instead improving their ability to teach all children. If the educational environment is willing to let so many children be labeled and left behind then we as the public will push for programs that force you to perform.
How about getting a copy of the NCLB act, reading and learning what is is about. Too few do and then just want to complain.
I am seeking information about the school district there. What math, science, English, social studies, spelling, and reading curriculums do they use? Anything else you can tell me would also be appreciated.
My husband is looking at an opportunity in El Dorado. My family is in Colby. El Dorado would be 3 hours closer than where I am now. I'm wondering what the town is like and what other districts in that area would be good to check into. Thanks in advance. Tina
Candee also wants to know more about... > I have heard so much about your standard based report > card/progress report cards for students. > > I would like to see one of the report cards to see how you > incorporated standards into the report card from one or > several schools in KS. > > We are doing standard based report card in my state/school > and I want to have a look to see how you all have > accomplished it. > > Thanks, > Candee
The USA Postcard Exchange is an easy project for your class to participate in. The kids learn U.S. Geography and have fun at the same time. Each class will send out postcards to all the participating classes at a designated time. If we have 100% participation, your class will receive a postcard from all 50 states. This is the second year I have organized it, and we did pretty well with our 2002-03 project.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED: To make this project successful, we need ONE classroom from each state.
HOW IT WORKS: If you choose to participate, you would need to get 50 stamps and picture postcards with pictures that represent your state. Then, write and mail them out some time between September and Thanksgiving. Your class will then generate together a note that tell how your state is unique. For example, the message may include information about your state, including landmarks, history, state symbols, etc. This is a one time mailing. I will supply the format for mailing labels wth the correct classroom addresses so you can conveniently attach them to the postcards.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask me.
Teachers, If you are looking for an internet project to get involved in this year, please check this out. It will begin the first week of October and run through February. It will tie Social Studies and Science curriculum together through comparing community and weather data. I have done this project in the past, students enjoy it and they learn a great deal. Use the link to see the details, if you are interested please leave your information at the site on the 'i note! If you see that someone from your state has joined, that is okay. We can have multiple participants from the same state. If you have any further questions email me. Thanks, Terry Stoufer Project Coordinator
