I had some great teachers in the 1950s and 1960s. Is there a source for finding them, and if they're still living, thanking them for the huge difference they made in my life?
I agree 100%, there needs to be a way for former students to send "thank yous" to teachers we love to remember. I am trying to locate my grade school teacher from Linwood Elementary School, Wichita, KS. Her name is Daisy Dean Burris and she taught 4 and 5 grade during the aprox years of 1962 to 1966. She would be about 70 years of age giave or take a few. I know she lived North of the old Campbell castle for a while in 1972, but after that I can't find anymore leads. She was my favorite teacher of all my years and I always admired her as a "Professional" working woman. My mother was also a career woman and they were my "idols". If any of your know of her, I would love to be able to send her a message. Some of the other teachers during that time were, Mrs. Henline-2nd grade, Mrs. Buchanan-3rd grade, and Mrs Sigler-1st grade.

Call the state department of ed and find out how to file a formal complaint. Put everything in writing date it and keep copies. Start a notebook to track everything. Jot down all interactions with time and date. Put in writing to his school that per your rights under FERPA you want a complete copy of your child's file (to see what the teacher may be putting in it). When you have enough doumentation start working up the food chain all the way to the Superintendent. If there is retaliation toward you child and it happens a lot, document document document.
This is a new way of getting students excited about learning algebra. Formated on DVD for classroom use on a television and DVD player. Please email me for alignments and for more information. It is such a new and exciting tool to use in the classroom. It is a supplemental program.
Hi! I am gathering information on what different school districts in Kansas do for kindergarten screening. I would like to know if you screen incoming kindergarten students, what test you use to screen, what you do with the information you get from the screening, how you administer the test (do you call off kindergarten and do the testing in the school, do you use another location other than the school), what time of year (spring before or first week of school) or any other information you would like to share about your pre-kindergarten screening. If you are not a kindergarten teacher, please pass this question on to one and have them email me their information. Thanks in advance! Sandy

Screenings are given during the summer months (Kdg. teachers paid by hour) Screening take 20-30 minutes. Results are conferenced with parent later in the week Referrals are given for students to either KinderPrep or Regular kindergarten. Both are half day programs. The KinderPrep is designed for the students who tested developmentally delayed. The proceeding year the KdgPrep then attends Primary 1st Grade in an all day program. Then, they attend Regular 1st Grade after that.
