Hello...I have been teaching for 16 yrs and had a lot of good resources to share so I played around with my own webpage. It's really geared for k-6 teachers. I have centers, Harcourt, word walls, comprehension, assessments etc. Bravenet placed a banner (it's not mine) but the website was free so I'll deal with it for now : ) Anyway it's worth a look. I am not a techie, but I played around with the site and nit has a little of something for everyone. If your interested check it out at" literacynook.com I'd love some feedback since I am very new to this : ) Thanks!

When are you moving? I know that our district has done most of its hiring already. I think that the main TOpeka district is USD 501 and you should have no problem getting a job there up through August. But it will be the most challenging because of student need. Shawnee Heights and Washburn Rural are smaller but they cater to a higher clientel. Seaman is also smaller but it is good. Some of the outlying districts are Perry, Silver Lake and Lawrence. I would think the sooner you got your apps out the better. We are all on summer break but hiring is still going on. Teachers had until May 15 to give notice they are not returning without being penalized, but several districts are still ironing out positions. You should be able to get a job. Good luck.

If you are planning on leaving Kansas to come to Nevada, check out Teachers4Change...... You need to get the facts regarding the Silver State before you come here......

Do the KS standards mirror the types of skills necessary to score well on the ACT? I'm mostly wondering about the English and Reading Section, but I'd be happy to hear what you think of the Math and Science sections, too.
If a student received good instruction of the HS standards (and showed competancy), would the student still require additional test prep to score well on the ACT (beyond test- taking strategies and practice exams)?
I teach 5th grade in Florida and I am trying to start a postcard exchange for my class. I am looking for a class that **promises** to participate. It is so fun and any elementary grade can do it. I am accepting the first teacher from each state that emails me. It is super easy and fun!
All you have to do is request that each parent send in 2 stamped postcards that have your state name on it. Then when the due date comes, you have your students write facts about your state's climate, what it is famous for, etc. In return you will also get a postcard from each state. The kids LOVE getting the mail and you can do so much with it.
If interested, please email me at gator.[email removed]!
