Frustration and fear and deep discouragement. Many friends who have been notified they
are on the cut list and that list goes up to 5 years with the district. Rumors that there
will be no air conditioning, freezing classrooms in the winter. No paper for copies.
Classrooms increasing 50% in size.
But, we will produce miracles of achievement under lousy conditions won't we!
The news just reported that 43% in a poll preferred the cuts to raising taxes to fund
schools. I think the case has been made but in this "me" society the only people who
support funding schools are the teachers and some parents. Ugh!
spare the schools? Non-tenured teachers beware!! Scary!nfm

I don't know where in KS you are, but these circumstances
sound overly dire! Here in Lawrence we have lost 42 teachers;
that's a lot. But 50% increase in class size? No way. No A/C
or HEAT? No way.
