Substitute teaching

I'm getting laid off at the end of next month and I have had it with good old Corporate America! I volunteered at my child's school before and I really enjoyed it. MK Different districts handle this in different ways. Go to the school board office and ask.

I'm trying to get a job teaching for the Fall. I'm planning on applying to several school districts. Does anyone know HOW the Statewide Reference Form needs to get to the people who do the hiring? Do my references need to mail them or can they come from me?

I am moving to Baton Rouge next month and hoping to start teaching 2010. I'd like to get my credentials/certificates in order well in advance. Charters vs Public

I visited this summer with the intention of teaching summer school at a charter and the conditions were horrible. Does the public schools here offer a better environment than the charter schools? I have now got a call from a public school to teach this Fall. I'm relocating from MI.

Louisiannie It's the way they are run that makes everyone miserable. Part of the two-pronged problem in education today:

1. Legislators running education instead of educators. 2. The mentality that anyone who has ever been IN a school can run one!
