Yet more teachNOLA

Hi. Along with a few more folks, I am urgently seeking info
on teachNOLA. I've been granted an interview, and would
love to be a part of this program, but, I would be taking a
7k pay cut to go from my school in Atlanta to New Orleans.
Please, does anyone have experience teaching in the charter
schools, or the recovery area schools?? Thanks to anyone
who can help!!

Housing IS available----just more expensive!! /blockquote>

There are many rentals available uptown as well as in neighboring
Jefferson Parish, but rents are higher than they were pre-Katrina.
The teachers being recruited to come to New Orleans will receive a
$400 a month housing allowance, so it will help bring housing
costs in line.

rooms lined up shotgun-style) for $900 or even less. If you share
one of those, your housing allowance will cover most of your rent.
Uptown is a fairly safe neighborhood that is very enjoyable, too.

There are many small rural districts in Louisiana that also
need teachers. You may face a few of these issues, but oh my
goodness. What Dawson describes does not sound like
teaching. Do not do this!!
