Hi, I'm about to be a senior in college majoring in elementary education with an interdisciplinary major in English language arts. I'll be completely my third field study this semester and student teaching the following semester. I've worked with fabulous elementary school students and have adored it, but...

...Part of me just can't shake the idea of wanting to teach high school English! The problem is, I just don't know which I would be happier teaching. I intend to finish out my major and have already passed all of the MTELs I need to take in order to be an elementary school teacher. As of now, my plan is to start teaching once I graduate before completing a master's program.

But what if I change my mind? What are my options? In order to teach high school English, will I need to take more undergraduate courses? I'm well aware that I will have to take another MTEL test, but how easy would it be for me to become certified in both elementary education as well as second...See More

Career Changer THANK YOU Joan! I asked the Mass DOE (now DESE) two years ago if local contracts were available online and was told that the only way to research different districts was to request a copy of their contract in person at the administrative offices (and be prepared to pay a copying fee.) I didn't realize the state pulled all this info together.
