I am a special ed teacher for low functioning individuals. I have an interview for a inclusion class for the 8th grade and need to have a demonstration lesson. I looked at the MA frameworks and saw that mean, median,and mode was in the 8th grade frameworks. I was thinking about creating a lesson where the students have to guess how many Christmass M & M's are in a jar. I would then have the students find the mean, median, and mode. I would then have them write in their journals about the lessons. Can anyone give me any advice if this is grade appropiate? Any advice on a lesson that is grade appropiate for 8th graders would be greatly appreciated.
