Hi all,

I've got some questions for people here regarding the prospects of working as an ESL teacher in MA. I'm a returned Peace Corps volunteer who worked as a TEFL in a secondary school in Ukraine (grades 1 through 11, equivalent ages to US grades), and I have a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature. Here are my questions:

1) Given my background, will I be competitive for ESL teaching positions, particularly in eastern MA?

2) Is/are there a textbook/books that aspiring MTEL ESL test-takers should read before taking the test?

I think you will definitely be competitive. Many school districts aren't able to fulfill ELL teaching positions, so you will be in high demand.
