I finally have settled on my pursuing my dream of becoming a teacher. I am about to enroll in classes at PG community college and I wanted some advice on if I should look to take the Praxis soon and if I should bother paying to take a Praxis preparation course? I also wanted to know if I should forget all of that and get into one of the teacher programs like the Resident Teacher Program or the teaching fellows. Any advice would help.

No matter which way you decide to go to become a teacher, you will have to take the Praxis. There is no way around that. Personally, I'd go ahead and take the Praxis I tests - that will tell you what you'll need to work on. See if PGCC offers Praxis prep courses for free. Sometimes colleges/universities will offer review for the Praxis for free.
